Help to protect your home from a sewer line backup by installing a backwater valve. EPCOR is currently offering a Backwater Valve Subsidy financial assistance by providing up to $800 for interior or exterior backwater valve installation. Their program targets homeowners:
Whose homes were built prior to 1989
Who has had previous basement flooding from sanitary sewer backup
Who lives in areas of Edmonton with previous neighborhood flooding
PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for the program, you must:
Not have an existing backwater valve in your home
Not have previously received a subsidy for the application address
Have your home separately serviced (single-family dwelling or duplex)
Have a pre-approval inspection by EPCOR Flood Prevention
APPLICATION PROCESS
1. GET PRE-APPROVED
Before installing your backwater valve obtain a pre-approval. Their Flood Prevention Advisors will complete an interior home inspection. Once you get approval from the advisor at the time of inspection, the installation of a backwater valve can proceed.
2. INSTALL THE BACKWATER VALVE WITHIN 6 MONTHS OF EPCOR INSPECTION
Our expert plumber can install the backwater valve within 6 months of inspection.
3. SUBMIT THE APPLICATION WITHIN 6 MONTHS OF EPCOR INSPECTION
You must submit the application within 6 months of the inspection or the installation will no longer qualify for the subsidy.
